Poodle sizes (toy, miniature & standard)
The poodle has three common sizes, known as Toy (small), Miniature (medium) and Standard (large). In addition to those size variants, there are less popular sizes, which are Moyen, Tiny toy and Teacup. In more details:
- Toy Poodle has a maximum height of 10 inches (25 cm) when standing and weights 4 – 9 pounds (2 – 4 kg) when mature. Petite and cute, Toy Poodles are mostly kept as pets.
- Miniature Poodle has a maximum height of 15 inches (40 cm) and a maximum weight of 20 pounds (9 kg).
- Standard Poodle is largest among all types with a common height of 15 inches (40 cm). In some rare cases, Standard Poodles can reach 20 inches (50 cm) in height and 65 pounds (30 kg) in weight.
Due to their greater sizes, besides raised as pets, Miniatures and Standards are trained to do the breed’s traditional duties, such as hunting ducks in wetlands.

Poodle temperament
Regardless of their sizes, Poodles are famous for their cheerful and intelligent nature. In terms of training, they are excellent students. They are obedient, easy to train and agile.
Although they are pampered like noble dogs, Poodles are not demanding. They are friendly, easy to raise and close to humans. They love to be loved and cuddled. If left alone for a long time, they may become lonely; so do not leave your Poddles out of sight for too long!
How to take care of the Poodle?
The Poodle is very easy to take care of. They can live well in small apartments in big cities and in the countryside, as long as they are allowed to exercise regularly. They like to live in the house together with their family. Especially in the case of Toy and Miniature Poodles, as their humble sizes do not take up much space, you can let them share cozy family space.
Smart, easy to train and quick at learning, they are also quick at learning bad habits. So, if you buy a Poodle, please pay attention to teaching them good manners, including how to go to toilet at right places. Many owners ignore training for their Poodles. As a result, after a while, those Poodles do not obey to their owner anymore, barking all day and night, peeing everywhere around the house and even biting the owner. This is definitely a scenario you do not want to fall into.
