After a long and dark day of winter, next comes bright colored flowers and warm evenings of spring. Spring is a season when kittens can go outside and enjoy the sun. Are cats color blind? Yes, they are.
Shedding happens in the life of all cats, which is influenced by daylight more. How long the cat gets exposed to sunlight triggers this shedding process. This is especially noticeable with outdoor cats during the spring.
Indoor cats shed consistently but not much because of less light inside a house. In the case of kittens, the situation is different. If you were planning to bring new kittens to your home this spring season, there are certain things to consider.
1. Poisonous flowers or plants
There are certain shrubs, flowers, mushrooms, and plans that can become dangerous for your kitten. Some of the plants that can be poisonous during the spring season are:

- Castor oil plant
- Rubber plant
- Avocado plant
- Poinsettia
- Ivy
It may be impossible for you to keep your kitten away from the garden sometimes. And your garden cannot be made free from such plants to protect them. 2. Grooming your kitten
To brush your kitten all through the week, help to curb shedding. There are some grooming tools to remove loose fur easily and that dander is an undercoat. It reduces the amount of fur land up in your home. Breeding with long coats may require dematting tools.
You can finish off the grooming section with a bath. Use a pet shampoo with formulas designed to reduce shedding further in cats. Kittens tend to be small, so try to use a waterless shampoo. They will enjoy it more.
If fur has deposited already on your carpet and furniture, it is the time for the vacuum cleaner. A special pet cleaner attached vacuum is there to short your work. Such attachments are amazing. A rotating brush and rubber fingers help you to clean up short pet hairs.
3. Kittens suffer allergies
Just like human beings, pets also develop some allergies from grass, pollens, plants, and other substances found during the spring season. Some of such symptom often seen are:

- Behavioral change
- Runny eyes
- Fleas and ticks

- Treat your kitten with an anti-flea and tick products. Many products are available on the market; they are sold by pet shops. You can also ask your vet who can provide better advice on the treatment for fleas and ticks.
- Try to clean all your soft furnishings; it is necessary to vacuum them regularly and spray for a household flea.
- If you have another pet too, you may use the same flea treatment for all. But for each pet, the treatment is different. Because it can be toxic for cats or kittens, and leads to fatalities. Accidentally, if you apply it on your kitten or it comes in contact with a treated dog, then bathe your kitten or cat in lukewarm water using mild detergent. Try to take your kitten to the vet immediately.
Even if all care is given in the world, they might get fleas. The symptoms include are:
- Dark specs in fur
- Scratching
- Bites on the skin
- Hair loss especially on their back or tail area
4. Vaccination
In any season, there are two sets of vaccinations of kittens. It protects your kittens from fatal infections like feline infectious enteritis that cause them severe vomiting and diarrhea and feline influenza called cat flu. Also, there is a vaccination to protect the kitten from cat flu that affects their immune system.
The first injection must be given at the eight weeks after they are born along with the second short afterward. These kittens should not be kept with their mother cats after the second short is given. It is for maximum protection of your kitten. To keep the maximum level of protection from vaccination, give adult cats regular boosters. Your vet doctor can suggest the best.
5. Worming
At the age of four to six weeks, kittens must be treated for roundworms. It should be given regularly every two or three weeks until they become four months old. Kittens should also be treated for tapeworms and roundworms every two or six months. After that, it depends on how much they hunt and have fleas. Your vet can advise you on the best wormer for your kitten.
